As I mentioned in Morning Coffee, Tennessee Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Mike McWherter made a stop in Shelby County yesterday to talk to supporters and continue his Mike Works series of stops at Interstate Barbecue.
I was able to make it to the event at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library and got some video of his speech.
In part one that follows, Mike talks about economic development and bringing good jobs to Tennessee.
From there, McWherter trained his focus on West Tennessee in general and and Shelby County in particular. He talks about the importance the state’s largest county by area and population has both on the future of the state and the campaign in general.
Finally, McWherter wraps it up with a story about “the convertable”.
McWherter entertained questions from the audience and the media after the speech, then went on to Neeley’s Interstate. All in all it was a good event and everyone was glad to see and hear from our Gubernatorial nominee. We look forward to seeing him back here in Shelby County and wish him luck out there on the campaign trail.

Um, he went to Interstate, not the same thing.
Unfortunately this was not the most publicized event (because of the holiday week-end). There was attendance, but the room was not overflowing. I think we will get better in the future – the candidate said he would be here more often going forward.
By the way, Mike will be at Germantown Democrats Meeting on August 25th at Cordova Library. Socializing at 6:30, Meeting starts at 6:45.
Mispost on part 1, which appears to be part 3 again.
Thanks, fixed it.
