Politicians don’t get the blogosphere. It’s a shame really. The title comes from a comment at KnoxViews by Andy Axel, where this all got started.
Betsy Phillips takes to task Ron Ramsey, and Bill Haslam for that matter, this morning regarding that if you don’t know the writers behind the blogs, especially R. Neal at Knox Views, you might miss something. Something called, I don’t know, satire.
Oh, but that’s not even the funniest part: they link to the “endorsement.” Yes, not only do they miss the joke, they direct people to go see the joke and realize that Ramsey has missed it.
And already, we have Haslam’s team’s response. Campaign spokesperson, David Smith emails Tom Humphrey and says, “giving credence to an obscure liberal blog that is clearly making fun of Republicans represents a new low.”
So, weirdly enough, what we can take from all this is a.) that there are probably a lot of people in this state who think the Colbert Report is straight news, and b.) that David Smith may be the most awesome evil genius campaign spokesperson in the state.
Ramsey took it seriously and Smith took a swipe at liberal bloggers but is it just liberal bloggers or is it all bloggers?
It’s like watching Monty Python with the hilarity.
