Harvey Pekar is dead.
Harvey Pekar did exactly what Harvey Pekar wanted to. He talked about what he wanted to talk about, he was an artist that was oddly passionate about what most people would not find to be sexy, he pissed David Letterman off but I’ve often wondered if David Letterman pissed him off first.
His comics dealt with ordinary things that probably wouldn’t interest others, but it interested me. Hate to see him go because I got what he offered us and there was a genuine sense of lost details that we lose yet that he saw. Yeah, he had a bit of the crazy but don’t we all.
