Manic Monday – Flag Day Edition

Flag Retirement

My grandfather was a commander at the local American Legion, a Marine vet from WWII and a pretty groovy guy. Each year the American Legion Auxiliary, which my grandmother was active in, helped dispose of torn flags properly. Occasionally I would go with her as she took this task very seriously. I guess that stayed on with me although she’s been gone nearly 30 years.

I’m going to be honest, I cannot stand to see a ratty, tattered flag. Just last week, I saw an American flag on a car that was shredded to pieces. I’m offering you this site today that explains proper flag disposal, how to mend a flag and how to recycle the stars and stripes.

It’s a pet peeve of mine. It really is. (And I’m one of those liberal-types.)

On to the manic Monday version of this blog where we delve around the cosmos of the innertubes to see what is on your mind.

And now we have Skirtgate.

Women’s Health News’ Rachel has her weekly round up online and believe me, it’s a good ‘un (as we in the South sometimes say.)

Cathy has a wonderful tribute to her friend Buster. Seriously guys, it’s wonderful so go read it right now.

Lindsey Turner is a friend of ours here at Speak to Power. She had an undeniably frightening weekend. We are sending her and her family our best.

Sen. Lamar Alexander sends some mixed messages out sometime. Do we want the government fixing the oil spill, do we want BP or … ? I dunno. I haven’t had lunch as of this writing so my brain isn’t functioning.

I believe this story should have more play to it. I have a feeling it will.

Pat Robertson tells women that he has some advice for them: Stay Pretty. When I have a bit more time, I will be frothing a bit on this one. And by frothing I mean stabbing.

I went to Cathy’s blog and got weepy.

Then I went to the Pat Robertson link, saw Comment 40 and nearly spit up all over my computer.

    That is all.

That comment gave me a mental picture so grotesque it rivals the one I got of Mark Foley skipping through the Congressional Page’s dorm singing I’m So Pretty with a French accent.
