Yesterday we pointed out Marsha Blackburn’s change of heart on special appropriations for disaster relief.
In the comments of that post, Greg Rabidoux, the Democratic challenger for he seat, added his thoughts to the discussion.
It’s not just that Marsha Blackburn’s comments were insensitive, irresponsible and offensive to everyone affected by the Katrina tragedy which of course was a real and not a “so-called” emergency. Hopefully any thinking man and woman knows this already. And requesting more federal funding is what should happen for our state and on behalf of all our neighbors and friends still trying to recover.
No, it’s the utter hypocrisy on display here that should also offend everyone regardless of their politics. You can’t align yourself with extremists who call for the dismantling of our government when the sun shines and then be the first in line for governmental aid when the rains come and hope to still retain a shred of credibility with anyone.
Personally, I don’t blindly embrace any dogma when it comes to our government. The right size government is whatever best does the job at hand and works for us, the people who created it and give or withhold our consent. I and my team will continue to help out however we can and I welcome federal assistance for Tennessee and district 7.
