In reality, Rep. Joe Carr freely admits, were it not for Arizona’s new immigration law, he merely “hopes he would” have filed this resolution.
There was a lot of talk about political gamesmanship last night, and some comments from supporters of the resolution acting like it was all on the other side, but the resolution itself was pandering to an element that really doesn’t need any pandering to in this state.
Here are some of the highlights of last night’s debate:
The last clip, of Democratic Leader Odom was put there for a reason. As several have noted, 16 Democrats voted for this resolution. I’m not going to pretend to know the situation in their individual districts well enough to tell them what to do, but I am going to ask the question, “Why?”
Without the 16 Democratic votes the resolution would pass anyway.
Why even vote? Why not abstain, or just leave the room?
I’m just asking.

In short, if a Democrat has to vote like a Republican to get re-elected (and I do not believe that for a second), why have the Democrat in the first place? Will those folks EVER get that?
Big props to Mike Turner, GA Hardaway and Gary Odom, along with all the Democrats who voted against this garbage.
