The race for the next Mayor of Shelby County has been on for weeks now. With early voting for the primary election set to start in just six days, it’s decision time for many voters.
To help make that decision process a little easier for those of you who intend to vote in the Democratic Primary, we asked the three candidates for Shelby County Mayor 10 questions.
The candidates all answered the same questions. They were submitted to all the candidates simultaneously to ensure all had the same opportunity to answer, with a return deadline that all of them met. The only editing that occurred involved formatting issues that popped up in the “copy/paste” process, and adding html tags where necessary to ensure links work.
Clicking on the images will direct you to the individual candidate’s answers.
Early voting starts April 14th and runs through April 29th, locations are listed here.
Election day is May 4th.
If you’re not sure where to vote on election day, please use the precinct locator.
Special thanks to all the Democratic candidates for participating and good luck in the election.

Steve, Good job. I like Joe Ford’s answers the best (BTW, I can’t believe I said that).
OK, Tom, I’ll call Upton and he’ll have a Ford sign in your yard before nightfall!
Was this their spelling?
Yes, we did not edit any spelling at all. Everything was cut and paste from email or word doc.

Currently Memphians pay twice for schools, County taxes to support both school systems and city taxes, much of which go to City schools. County residents get a major tax break, courtesy of an archaic funding system that has become extremely unfair to Memphis.
Joe Ford wants to continue punishing Memphis and give accommodations to County residents outside Memphis. Deidre MAlone is strongly for single source funding. Maybe voters in Memphis should vote for Deidre Malone and others vote for Joe.
