Will They Or Won’t They?

An editorial at the Tennessean wonders if Reps. John Tanner and Bart Gordon might be swing votes on Health Care Reform.

However, two formerly no votes are now identified as undecided by the Wall Street Journal. The newly undecided Democrats are U.S. Rep. John Tanner of Union City, Tenn., and U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon of Murfreesboro. Tanner and Gordon are in Democratic leadership positions and both have announced they will not seek re-election this year.

Tanner’s official position is to “wait and see” the details of the bill. Gordon’s office, likewise, signaled a potential change of position, with his declaration that, “I’m pleased to see the discussion moving in a more fiscally responsible direction.”

Recent elections in Texas, Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts show that public passion is flowing.

Every member of the House of Representatives is up for re-election this year, except for those who have chosen not to run for office again.

It was the Tennessee Assembly that cast the historic final vote on women’s suffrage decades ago, and the margin there was one vote.

I’m still not so sure. Those two are hard to read.
