What an eventful 24 hours it’s been. Yesterday some good friends got married, which was followed by some frivolity at the expense of our livers, with the musical stylings of Papa Top’s West Coast Turnaround carrying us forward into the wee hours of the afternoon. After which, we scattered, covered, smothered, and chunked our way into the evening. It was a lovely time, celebrating the beginning of a journey that these two people have embarked on together.
In my younger years I used to play weddings. This was way back, two or three, maybe four lives ago in the early 1990′s. I wasn’t The Wedding Singer or anything, but I have attended and performed at literally hundreds of weddings. I can say with a great deal of confidence that this movie more accurately represents the aftermath that ensues than any other movie I’ve ever seen in my life.
Our worlds are filled with emotion, and even the most beautiful events can bring out the full menu of these emotions in a way that is sometimes surprising. In the end, we have to remind ourselves why we’re here. Why we organize ourselves the way we do. Why we ultimately need one another to get along in this world.
Life is not always pretty, but true love is everlasting. It is that true love that makes our lives livable, and enrich our journey together, as a community of individuals that can make it in this world on our own, but somehow, instinctively understand that sharing the journey together makes life that much sweeter.
Congratulations Dabney and Glen. May your journey together both bring peace and joy to your lives, and the lives of all of us that are on this journey with you.
On to the coffee!
Gail Kerr says something I’ve been saying for years. Enjoy being ignored, just as I and many others have!
Some goings on in the fightin’ 8th race – Luther Mercer II has dropped out and Frog Jump singer and farm subsidy recipient Stephen Fincher offers his neck to his potential constituents.
Stacey Campfield’s illusory cures for imaginary ailments are not appreciated by, well, anyone.
Out of line? I’m shocked!
Do the TEA Party folks understand that their unhinged, racist, and hateful comments only reinforce what many of us already suspected? Oy!
And finally…
Today is healthcare vote day, but TN Gubernatorial candidates aren’t having any of that. Lets hear it for progress!
Alright folks, get out there and do your thing. Tomorrow will be here before you know it, and then we’ll be right back in the grind.
