The Investment

There are a lot of different voices in the state of Tennessee regarding the direction of the Democratic Party in this state.

As Martin Luther King Jr. said “A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.” As online conversations regarding politics becomes more prominent due to blogs, social media and different ideology collides regarding the direction of the party, several people in the Western Division are joining efforts to spotlight not only left-leaning blogs in this state but the writers  behind them. The consensus is, of course, that as democrats we are all in this together.

We are hoping that by focusing on the varied conversations that Democrats are having on a daily basis we can create a place where real issues, not wedges, are spotlighted. We live in a time where things are moving rapidly and we are intent to focus on what is on the minds of democrats in this state? And do our elected officials know what is on our minds?  In many ways, blogs are the new-age equivalent of what’s being discussed over the proverbial “water cooler”  and thus we decided to bring all the conversation to one place so we can figuratively speak to power.

Our goals are pretty simple. We plan to aggregate blogs, but also highlight elected democratic officials, folks behind the scene, activists, business and stories of real people who are actively working day-to-day in the trenches. Original features will include our version of 10 Questions, news of the day, the occasional editorial and bills that will prominently impact Tennessee citizens. We realize that this is a work-in-progress and there are bloggers in this state that have a story behind their online homes which we also wish to shine a light on.
This is a side project for each and every one of us. We are invested because despite our differences, the bottom line is that we believe in the Democratic Party as a whole.

And we believe that if we raise our voice, those people we gave a vote will listen.
