Saturday Morning – Enjoy It While You Can Edition

Good morning. It’s Saturday, and even though it’s supposed to get up to 60 today they’re saying it might be cloudy. I’m looking out my window right now and seeing some bright patches of blue sky. As your weather attorney, I advise you to get out of your house and spend at least 30 minutes in the sun while it’s there. The rain comes back tomorrow.

  • Yesterday I wrote about the Madison County ballot. Apparently there’s already an update. Word on the street in MADCO is that Sarah “The Pie Lady” Clayborne will withdraw. Y’all, this must not happen. We must have “pie lady” on our ballots. I can already see the yard signs and bumper stickers…
  • Some of our state legislators and administration officials took at tour of the MED yesterday. If the phrase “6 buildings built between 1947 and 1994 covering 1.2m sf.” wasn’t descriptive enough, well, at least they’ve now SEEN what we’re talking about. There’s talk of a “bed tax” or tapping into reserves. How about you do all that AND give the MED the money it’s due.
  • TCP is down with the 'stache

Betsy @ Tiny Cat Pants is pretty pleased with her State Rep., even though she can’t remember his name half the time, or what he looks like other than a mustache. Here’s a picture to help you remember. Make it the background image on your computer or something. Burn this image into your mind. Say his name over and over again to yourself while you look at his picture. Make his legislative page your browser homepage. You must remember…you must remember…

    Or don’t…whatev’s.

  • ACK is reporting that Former RNC Chair and current Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour has enough scratch to run for President. Is it already that time again? Really? Didn’t we just do this a little bit ago? *sigh*

P.S. The MS Governor’s website makes me want to have my eyes checked and vomit a little. Just sayin’

  • Finally, I want to cross the river and give some props to a good old guy from Little Rock that just passed away. Back when I was in Junior High, I was an aspiring photographer. I met Gene a couple of times, and even though I was just some punk 14 year old kid, he took the time to talk to me and answer my 14 year old kid questions. I didn’t know who he was, or that he’d been around and pretty much seen it all.

Gene was fortunate enough to retire before the the Gazette lost the newspaper war in 1991. He’s a part of Arkansas journalism history, and he will be missed.

  • Have a good Saturday! If you’re in Memphis, put on your Tiger Blue and get ready for the Tigers V. SMU tonight at 7pm here at the FedEx Forum. Go Tigers Go!

If you’re not in Memphis, or not down with the Tigers, get out and do something. Go patronize some of those socialist institutions that Republicans like to demonize so much like public libraries or parks. Use our socialist roads to go engage in some capitalism. You know, get out of the house. You’ll thank me for it later.

      Weather attorney? That is hysterical.

I would totally rather get my weather from a weather attorney than a meteorologist.
