A new law lifting bans in federal parks goes into effect today.

A resolution passing a bill honoring ACLU Executive Director Hedy Weinberg has passed the Senate. It goes in front of the house later today. Revisions had to be made to the original bill by Sen. Joe Haynes that eliminate certain references to “gay and straight” members. Sheesh.

The Memphis Daily News talks Mark Luttrell, Otis Jackson and last minute scrambles in this year’s election. The primary is May 4.

And for those who love whiskey, former blogger Nashville Knucklehead and all around good guy Jim Reams is talking about whiskey in today’s deadwood of the Tennessean and how retro cocktails are making a resurgence.
