Mediaverse Talks Herenton’s Web Site

A column this weekend from Otis Sanford from the Commercial Appeal has Richard at Mediaverse thinking about that former Memphis mayor Willie Herenton and the CA really have no love for each other. He then goes to take a look at Herenton’s website.

Yet, if you really want to analyze Herenton, then start with his Web site.

The site is pathetic but it speaks to the strategy of a campaign that hasn’t raised much money so far because it feels like it doesn’t have too.

Sure, such a strategy could turn campaign-finance theories on their head but it is what it is: on the cheap, banking on Herenton’s reputation and all the free media that the race will generate.

With that in mind, the Web site seems representative of the campaign’s strategy. There’s perhaps no need for Herenton to flesh out his bio, stance on issues and provide the typical campaign Web fodder because he’s a known quantity to the core of voters who vote for him no matter what.

But, unlike the decision on the money, skimping on public information could come back and hurt Herenton.

Read all of the breakdown of Herenton’s strategy at Mediaverse.
